Midweek Musings

Just testing to see how posts look out here. My blog from rediff,is shifted to: http://amitsmusings.wordpress.com ----------------------------- Thought for the day:A spoon does not know the taste of soup, nor a learned fool the taste of wisdom. Bigg Boss becomes more interesting in it's last week. I made one error when I predicted the four finalists. (Ravi,Carol,Rupali,Rakhi)...instead of Rupali, it's the Aashique guy,Rahul Roy, who managed to stay 'in', perhaps courtesy the fact that he's a silent observer, nee, khiladi. (Like me?LOL). Any guesses as to the final winner, co-bloggers? I'd guess Carol. (I can see Mehak grr-ing at my not saying Rakhi) I've been wondering who Bigg Boss himself is? It sounds so much like Jackie Shroff(Remember his polite voice in King Uncle?)..perhaps all will be revealed on Friday? It might not be, if there's going to be a 'next edition'. Kashmira made a cute quote yesterday' You should take Rakhi's words as s...

Interesting Tidbits

We can have facts without thinking but we cannot have thinking without facts. - John Dewey Headline in a local paper: Singapore in the hunt for MICE.Just as I was wondering when that interesting country got invaded by these rat-faced rodents, I read the article further down and realized that....yes....MICE is an acronym..for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions.LOL....Now,it becomes clear. The place is being developed further, efforts to shake off it's staid image are being made in dead earnest. The logic being, the MICE visitors usually spend two to three times more than the leisure tourists, probably coz they are there on an allowance, company expenses,etc... ------------------- Another interesting article in the same paper talks about whether James Bond 007 has lost his golden gun, err, touch. With former Bond Pierce Brosnan going on record to say that the whole idea of James Bond is 'fraudulent'(What do they say about sour grapes, which is what this is all ab...

OUR BEAUTY CONTESTS

My first post on this blog begins.I've been regularly blogging rediff(http://amitsmusings.rediffblogs.com) and thought I'd try out what the world outside rediff is like. So,here goes. Was watching the Glad Rags Contest on the tele two days back. Some of the questions, were of such a 'highly intellectual nature',that I think the contestants who were asked these questions, were left stumped and blushing. Example: 1) If love is blind, why do sexy clothes sell so well? 2) What, according to you, is the perfect male in bed?(or,something to that effect). The seriousness with which the questions were answered, was quite surprising.I thought they were raised (No pun intended) in good humour and the answers were also expected to be given in equally good humour. Now,I know,we're trying to make our Contests reach world standards, but, don't such questions become a bit too much, even for the contestants? Then, there's also the contestants, first the females, strutti...
