Attitude

Thought for the day: It's nice to be important, it's more important to be nice...from Everybody Loves Raymond.

I put this quote up on my FB page as well. Think- how many people(including you?ahaaa) do you know, that have an attitude about something or the other, or rather, about everything?

Just 2 days back, at the breakfast tables, I observed this guy in  a suit. Reeking of attitude...hands in pockets, he gestures by head, to one of the waiter/servers...polite people that they are, he went..and, guess what, the guy wants him to open to lids of each item on the buffet table so that he can see what's in it...For God's sake, man, can't you remove your hands from your pockets and see them yourself? After checking all of them, he coolly says' Ok, thanks...actually, my wife asked me to see what's for breakfast, so I came down. We'll come back later'....wonder how the waiter/server kept his cool. Maybe he has/had no choice...as is the case in the hospitality industry.

But, it made me wonder- why do people have attitudes? Why do they think that they're above the next person- be it a driver/sweeper/cleaner/waiter/servant...? Aren't all of us humans? And, wouldn't you get a better response if you were polite, gave them a smile every once in a while, and even tried to remember their names?(The last one's difficult for me, too!!heh heh)...but, believe me, it works- a smile, a bit of politeness- they get things done for you much faster than a pseudo attitude!Try it, and, at the end of the day, you will feel light-hearted and much better than the grumpy attitude-afflicted person next to you.:)

As the saying goes::

Amongst other things, pieces of the puzzle have again begun to fall in place...let's see...:)More details later, when the time is right. Keep guessing.

End-joke:(Courtesy one of our Indian newspapers):

I wonder:
"Whether an ailing pressure cooker ever has to go in for a ceetee scan?"

"Whether one toaster tells another"That loaf is so well bre(a)d"

hahahahaha.Till next time, keep smiling.

as far as dis is concern bout the equality of ppl from various fields is somethg that shud b taken seriously...

and why the hell is this reply looking like a upsc sociology answer??? pheewwww!!!...
tell ur daddy.. i m sudying too hard.. kuchh jugaad hai kya....
hmmmmm.... last year i attended a communications skills course sponsored by my office...what the instructor told us that in India, we mistakenly take "attitude" to be arrogance/high headed ness ..etc etc..actually attitude is simply the way one conducts....so one can have a good attitude or a bad one...but every person should have one!!!!...
am i boring you....i hope not!!....well, guess the guy you are talking about was just high headed...and needed some social skills course!!!
Everyone has an attitude. Whether its positive or negative or in between that's what matters. I hate it when people act like they own the place just just cuz they're paying for a service. Believe me, I know cuz I'm in the service industry. People are mean and if someone would just remember their manners, that's all we ask.

this statement was also given as a verdict to Shahrukh Khan by the judge of Lok Adalat on T.V many years back"It is good to be important, but it is important to be good" :-)
Here's a kiddie challenge for you! Are you up for it?

Nice post. But then again, attitude is important. It makes you who you are - though high-handedness is a totally different matter... :)

There is attitude and then there is plain rudeness!! This guy seems to be prime example of a jerk. I hate people who treat waiters/service staff badly, it reeks of poor manners. I like your advice of smiling and being polite but you know sometimes I just loose it when the billing guy takes forever to bill things or worse starts helping someone else with their queries instead of focussing on the job at hand! But yeah being nasty for no reason is never a good thing!
