Whew-11 days since I came here!Time's been flying by. Well, I guess I'll be back on the net regularly,once I return to Baroda. One reason for not being regular is, there's too much work load to finish in 2 weeks, so I don't log on much from work. Hardly any,in fact. And, since I gave up my home net connection here when I left for Baroda, I go to sit in a cyber cafe,like right now. And, believe me, sitting in a cyber cafe is not really my idea of fun. How can it be fun, when you have different people jabbering away behind or next to you? Someone's getting bugged with his wife in his hometown, someone's koochie-kooing to a kid(At least, I think it's a kid) and so on.

Well, yesterday, I finally took the ride on the Dubai Metro. One of my friends' family had been waiting for me to return, so that we could go together. And, let me say, it's quite an experience-and, not just another train ride as I was thinking! Firstly, the effort that's gone into making the stations appear as statuesque as they are. Secondly, the user-friendly signs everywhere and the staff at the stations, ever-ready to help you out. In short, what we did was, we went to one of the starting stations, that's Rashidiya. Purchased the NOL card(A swipe card, which has credit in it and can be recharged). We were lucky to catch the first train of the day(It starts at 2 PM on Fridays). From there to Terminal 3(That's the Emirates terminal, where I'll be going on Thursday) to Deira to Karama(where I stay) to DIFC to the last stop, Mall of the Emirates. And then, back via the same route to Rashidiya. It's partly underground(It's a huge tunnel with lights throughout) and  mainly above ground at an elevation.

By the way, to those who think you can easily jump on the tracks and cross to the other side to catch the other side train, you're mistaken. Just next to where the train stops and the auto doors open, barely 10 inches or so away, there's another pair of auto doors, that open only when and exactly behind the train doors. So, you can only enter direct into the train from the platform. Of course, at present many of the stations are still under construction, and once they're ready, I can imagine the rush that will be there. Even yesterday, there was no seating space once the train left the main station.

Of course, I am sure our Delhi Metro is no less. And now, it's also connected to Noida. Can't wait to try it out.

Joke of the day: 

Sometimes I think people's humour is gross. Like, I read some time back about the joke that was voted best joke in the world, and, couldn't imagine how it was found to be so funny. Ok, it is funny, but, not the best, surely?What do you think?

' A couple of New Jersey hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?” 

The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard. 

The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?“
