Comedy

Thought for the day:

The four levels of comedy: Make your friends laugh, make strangers laugh. Get paid to make strangers laugh and make people talk like you because it’s so much fun…Jerry Seinfeld.

(My comment: I wish I could be like that at all times, instead of just sometimes..haha)

There’s lots to write about, but, since it’s our weekend coming up in 4 hours, let me write first about what made me smile/guffaw/laugh in the last few days: (As such, the mind’s a bit more light-hearted than usual, with Baroda on my mind. haha)

The dialogue from a Hindi movie that went:

- “We have to go for potty with Danish Pastry.” It turned out that he(Paresh Rawal or Anupam Kher, I’m not sure) was talking of having Pot Tea with Dinesh Mistry.

2. Anupam Kher’s jokes in ‘Perfect (Mis)match, a fun movie(review comes up later): one of them goes:

Q: What does the Gujju call a Mercedes Benz?
A: A Mari Sadi Bhens

3. One of the items on the menu of a restaurant here:

- Soft drink(cane)

Any guesses what that stood for?

3. Seinfeld: There was a scene where Seinfeld’s current GF gets bugged because she sees him scratching (he claims he was just touching) his nostrils, which is something she hates. And, Seinfeld’s discussing with friend Elaine, about the topic and why it should bug any woman. Seinfeld’s dialogue went:

“You don’t touch the nose, you don’t aspire to reach the nose, and no man has ever tried to look up a woman’s nostrils and you don’t have to unhook anything to reach there.” (An obvious reference there to you-know-what(s)).

The serial’s full of daily life situations and witty repartee from all the ‘inmates’(I call them that, because I wonder whether people could be so zany in real life). And, undoubtably, that's why it's one of my favourites.(More on serials coming up later)

How about some of these dialogues, again from Seinfeld:

“Do you ever just get down on your knees and thank god that you know me and have access to my dementia?”

“I was the best man at the wedding. If I’m the best man, why is she marrying him?”

“Sometimes the road less traveled is less traveled for a reason.”

“Men don’t care what’s ON TV. They only care what else is on TV."

This one’s one of my favourites, it’s so imaginative:(You have to imagine this scene in a washing machine, when you read/hear the dialogue. (Cyn,after reading your post on dreams,I am sure you can dream about this fun scene)

"Laundry-day" is the only exciting day in the live of clothes. It is...no, think about it: the washing machine is the nightclub of clothes. Ya know, it's dark, there's bubbles happening, they're all kind a dancing around in there...shirt grabs the underwear: "C'mon babe, let's gather". You come by, you open up the lid and they'll: [shows how clothes are acting when you open the lid].

..Socks are the most amazing article of clothing. They hate their lives, they're in the shoes with stinky feet, the boring drawers...the dryer is their only chance to escape and they all know it. They knew a escape from the dryer. They plan it in the hamper, the night before: [sock's voice]
"Tomorrow, the dryer, I'm goin'...you wait here!" The dryer-door swings open and the sock is waiting up against the side wall. They hope you don't see him and then he goes down the road [shows how the sock is going down the road].

They got buttons sowed on their faces: join the puppet show...So they're showing me on television the detergent for getting out blood-stains...Is this a violent image to anybody? Blood-stains? I mean, I, come on, you got a T-shirt with blood-stains all over it, maybe laundry isn't your biggest problem right now...Maybe you oughtta get the harpoon out your chest first.

Joke for the day:
-A sardar invested 2 Lakhs in a business and suffered a huge loss.
Do you know what the business was?
He opened a Barber Shop in Jullundar.

PJ of the day:
Q: Why did Sardar cut the sides of the capsule before taking it? A: To avoid ‘side’ effects!!!

Next post coming up very soon. Cheerio.
