Conversation
Tell me,people, how do you deal with people who believe that conversation is a one way street only, with their way from their mouth to everyone else's ears, being the only route? Even though I'm more of a listener and observer, believe me, I do get the mood to talk (usually sensible talk, which doesn't veer round to making fun of others). But, there's this friend who believes otherwise...so, last week, we were going somewhere, and, it happened at least half a dozen times.. he insisted on only airing his views on everything, right from the right shopping to Dubai weather to the Emirates I D card requirements to Gujju epicurean delights to whatever.(As such, all these topics are a bore for me, since they don't involve books, mags, blogging,writing..LOL)..and,each time I wanted to get my two bits in, he'd again cut me off and begin his tirade.
Well, anyway, as is my usual 'style', I decided not to speak(try to) any more, and just politely ho-hummed my way through the conversation, letting out a very visible yawn every now and then to convey my ennui!!But, you think that deterred the guy? No way. The drone continued on and on and on, till he ran out of words and thoughts for a while.
And, I heaved a silent sigh of relief. Till I reached home and switched on the TV and let Seinfeld do the talking..come to think of it, Seinfeld's the same....talks and talks, and, lets others get in a word only occasionally..ROFL!!Well,it takes all kinds to make up the world, as they say. So, any suggestions for dealing with such people in future? (And, don't suggest' tick them off', coz I don't think I could be so impolite)
Joke for the day:
Jack had a blind date with Jill for the prom and, as the evening progressed, he found himself more and more attracted to her. After some really passionate embracing, he said, "Tell me, do you object to making love?" "That is something I have never done before," Jill replied. "Never made love? You mean you are a v*rgin?" Jack was amazed. "No, silly!" she giggled. "I've never objected!"-----
Thought for the day:If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much.
-- Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense...well, I guess even Defense Secretaries can come up with a gem of a thought now and then..How true that one is!!Think of it next time you're criticized.

Hmm...dealing with such people.. I can usually go cold when I dont want a conversation (wid certain kind of people), n works at times. Unfortunately, nt many ppl talk bout blogging n writing...n stuff, their definition of passion is diff, n I kinda try n nt be judgemental in such situations:)
But, there ve been times, when the person overdoes it, n if the frequency is unbearable, I try n communicate the same somehow;)
I can't stand constant blaberring anymore. I would rather avoid these kinds of company like pests!!! I'd rather be on my own now. When I switch on the radio, instead of hearing music, the air is polluted bt ads or unstoppable blabbering!!! Arrrgh!!! Really cheesy!!!
So one thing Dude, either you ask that fellow to shut the hell up, or when you need to put your point you increase your tone and add some firmness in it - that will definitely grab is attention and fter a couple of times he WILL listen to what you have to say without intervening - or the ultimate one being AVOID him!!! Be on your own! At least you are not adding another pain in your ass!!!;o)
Cheers!
