Delhi

I was all ready to post a fun post, but, I heard of the Delhi blasts just now and just cannot get them out of my mind.

Most of the places are places where I always used to visit, when in Delhi- Greater Kailash, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh. As usual, the sensationalisation of the 'event' has begun on the news channels. Ministers are being interviewed, mud-slinging between political parties is going on, people are writing 'dialogues' for the interviewers to read out, so as to make the scenes sound like the narrative Amitabh or Naseeruddin Shah give in the beginning of blockbuster movies.

(Thank heavens they were able to defuse at least two of the bombs. When I heard the news first, I was wondering if there'd be 16-18 of them lying around, as was the case in Ahmedabad/Bangalore. Only the next day or two will tell!)

For God's sake, do you think we are interested in the politics of the blasts, media people? Most of us would like to know how these situations can be 'defused'(to use a poor pun) in the future, so that we remain alert, where and whenever we go out in our cities, be it to a grocery market or to a mall or to see a movie in a multiplex. Because, you know and I know, no amount of security and frisking of people can avoid such disasters occuring in a country with a billion plus population. It is only the alertness of the common man, which can reduce these occurences to some extent.

As if the sensationalisation is not enough, there's the advertising banners moving along the bottom of the screens, advertising chaddi baniyaans and what not , as if mocking those who were injured and had their clothes torn, leaving just them in just their undergarments. Arghh again, media people. At least at such times, can you avoid trying to make money out of the situation and stop all advertisements, either when the news is on and when there is a break? A prayer or two during the breaks would be most welcome, and would show a more humane touch to your channels. And, if someone is like me, I'd make sure I remember the ads and never use the advertised product(s), ever.

Anyway, here's saying a silent prayer for the families of those dead. And, a prayer for a quick recovery of those injured. *closes eyes and bows head in prayer*.

I wanted to leave a message yesterday itself... But bad connection and this space wouldn't open up. So am catching up today.

This is really sick. I don't understand what people get out of placing bombs and killing and injuring innocent people. These people are just cowards. Is this the way of voicing out about something they don't agree with??? By committing murders? That's really vile!!!

I hope and pray that more people won't suffer again and that the culprits will be unable to sleep because of what they have done to these innocent people. They are turning such a wonderful country into a blood-shed one and creating chaos coz they have no brains and maybe nothing else to do with their lives. Am appalled and very much disgusted with this cheap act! Yes in fact am furious!!!

Everyone is scared now to go out...Specially the parents. I pray that the culprits will be found and severely punished!

Hi,Keshi-yes,it is sad, and, yes, even i feel I'm becoming immune to such news-perhaps coz it's become such a regular occurrence, both in India and in Sri Lanka..still,I always pray for better days for both countries.
