What lies beneath?

Topic: What lies beneath?

The topic reminds me of the hit song' choli ke peeche kya hai'( or, was it neeche?)
Do you, like me, often find that the container makes the contained seem much better than it is? (All ye of dirty minds, no pun is intended- ‘containers’ is not referring to anything in the lines of,err, lewdity. LOL.). For example, tea in a steel glass, to me, always tastes better than tea in a mug. Tea in a transparent glass, always tastes better than tea in a mug, again. So, the content is the same, but, the container changes.

Or, juice, in one of those voluptuous glasses, always tastes better than juice in those slimline glasses with hourglass figures.

Going a step further, how often do you buy a mag or a paper with a bright front page and eye-catching pics/ headlines (Read’tantalizing’, as in the case of mags like Maxim) , rather than the same thing with a dull cover?

Or, go to buy chocolates- if your wallet can afford it, wouldn’t you prefer to buy those luscious looking Godiva chocs, rather than the simple local ‘golis’ without any wrapping at all?

Go to see a building-have you seen the buildings raw framework as it goes up? You’d go ‘ugghhh’, if you saw the mess of wires, drain pipes, plumbing pipes, et al, which finally get concealed below/behind that artistic false ceiling and those plastic painted walls.

Take a car of a scooter- when you see them at the mechanic’s, all opened up, don’t you feel ‘arghhh- is this ‘what lies beneath’?

When you think seriously(Read’humorously’), you realize- no wonder Adam began wearing that leaf, graduating further to animal skins and what not. Imagine the world today, having everyone running around without anything on-what’d distinguish the rich from the poor, the well-endowed from the aneroxic? Just the shapes of their bodies. Imagine a board meeting, and the nudi*t chairman walks in, everyone’s staring at him(her?), wondering ‘Ismein hai kya?’ (What’s so great about him/her?)…so, what really garners people’s respect, willing or unwilling, is the covering- the Saville Row suit, the neatly combed hair(even if it’s a wig), the smart shoes- all constituting the exterior.

Think over it and tell me- if you had a choice, which container would you like to do away with, still leaving the contained equally attractive?

How’s this for a thought to ponder over:
Hear and you forget; see and you remember; do and you understand.

Amusement time:
Q: Why did the Nun get excommunicated?A: They caught her doing push ups in the cucumber patch.
Punny Time:

Mrs. O'Malley arrives in Boston from Ireland, and in no time at all her bean soup has made her the talk of New England society. At a party celebrating the sale of her recipe to a fancy Charles Street restaurant, an old matron goes up to Mrs. O'Malley and says, "My dear girl, what is the secret of your soup?" Mrs. O'Malley says, "The secret to me soup is that I use but two-hundred thirty-nine beans to make it." The woman says, "How come only two-hundred thirty-nine? " Mrs. O'Malley says, "Because one more would make it too farty."

Interesting post Amit.

yes, what lies beneath is always hidden/enhanced/brought-down by what lies around it. But what matters is if we grasp both (what lies beneath and around) for it's beauty, as long as it keeps us happy.

Yes, I know this is true but I still don't like it, call me utopian.
