Mails and all that stuff

Were you happier in the days when there were no emails? I believe I was. The pleasure of receiving a hand-written letter or two or three or more, with those colorful stamps on them, cannot be the same as getting an email. In fact, I think, sometimes, when people write about what’s going on in their lives, they simply copy paste from the emails they send to someone else, modify it where the name is concerned, and, voila, the mail is ready…press click. If you’re lazier still, you will just put all the email ids in bcc, and, with a click, off go the emails. And, you believe that everyone will be happy.

But, are they? I mean, how can I be happy if someone forwards me a Diwali card, for example, where they have just hit the forward button and not even cared to delete the id of the person who sent it? Don’t tell me ‘It’s the thought that counts’- I cannot believe it. In fact, why just to me, they probably just bcced it to their whole address book.

The same is the case with smsed wishes- be it on New Year or Diwali or Independence Day…there’s no name in the beginning. The person has just selected his whole address book and send the same sms to his whole telephone directory. So, has such a person remembered you, really speaking? If he or she is staying in the same town/State, couldn’t he have just lifted the phone and called to wish? The usual excuse? Oh, we are soooo busy. Time just flies by.

Frankly, I don’t believe in this. I prefer to either call people to wish them, or, not send any wish at all. Or, if they’re really close, I’d send them a handwritten card, by post/courier. At least, that conveys to people that you remember them as individuals, and not as a 'group of people in the world'.

What do you think? What do you do?(And, if you reply*guilty as charged*, I wouldn't be too surprised).

Soooooooo agree with you. Mails are impersonal. Period. Esp e cards. I'd rather call the person and wish them than send them an ecard....

  Hi all positive people.. a topic I often think over.. it's something which helped a lot in changing my thoughts towards the positive side (Again, learned via the Secret)... and, still does, in this always continual learning curve. News roundabout

‘Vaandro udhto udhto gayo’( A flying monkey just went by)….a remark that gave me the first laugh of the day today. A sudden sound of a parrot-like screech coupled with something like hooves clickety-clacking on the vehicle-less road caused the tea guy at the tea stall ask ‘what was that’? and, a guy sitting nearby retorted thusly. I just tried imagining a flying monkey, and couldn’t help grinning away in the dark.(I still don't know what had caused the sound, btw) Life’s like that- if you keep your ears open, you can never have a dull moment. We had our Building’s AGM two days, back, at 730 PM, on the terrace. It was accompanied by a simple, catered dinner, since it’s also an annual get-together. Inventions and Discoveries

I'm really curious. Who invented the 'Va'. Or the 'Sha'. Or the 'Wi'. Or some such words. No, they're not some illnesses or prefixes. These are the words we invent when talking to people. I see the usage the max, specially in Baroda. Like: 1. Chai-Vaai peeni hai?(Want to have some Chai-Vaai?) 2. Naashta-Vaashta kar liya?(Did you have Naashta-Vaashta?) 3. Chutney-Vutney hai kya?( Is there any chutney-vutney?) 4. Lift-Wift nahin hai kya building mein?(Isn't there a Life-Wift in the building?) 5. Bombay-Wombay/ Dubai-Shubai kab jaa rahe ho ab?(When are you going to ....?) 6. Paise-Vaise milenge time pe ya nahin?(Will you get Paise-Vaise on time or not?) There are so many others I come across during the day, like, say speaker-veeker, phone-vone, kapde-vapde, dukaan-vukaan, that I have these rhyming words coming out of my ears, and, Arghhh!!
