Dust Bins,et al

(Caption for the above: Chalo Singapore!!)

One gigantic Dustbin: That’s what many people consider this world to be, I believe. Why else would I find, even in a place like Dubai, (s)crap strewn around wherever I go, when on a walk? There’s this nice square pit the corporation makes, and plants a tree or flowers in it. Before the poor things can grow up, the pit is filled with water bottles, coke cans, plastic bags, old newspapers and what have you. Or, take the airconditioned bus stops which were delivered to their locations some months back. Work on them was still going on, but, our erstwhile people began to sit in them, shit in them, leave bottles and stuff inside, until, finally, the RTA has put a plywood enclosure around them and locked it up.

Yeh toh Dubai ki baat. Think of India. Or, my own Baroda, for example. There, besides this rubbish, there's the menagerie of cows, goats, pigs,et al roaming on the streets, leaving their droppings everywhere. People even throw their rubbish from the upper stories of their house, down to the street. (Arghh!! I don't think I'd appreciate that any longer)I'm sure that it's like our usual attitude of 'chalta hai-all do it,so why not us?' and wham goes the rubbish onto the streets.

Talking of trash, I read this one, which, I feel is going a bit too far, na?
Tens of thousands of Australian households will have their garbage and recycling monitored by tracking devices placed in their trash bins, a move dubbed “Bin Brother”. Officials yesterday confirmed that 78,000 new council-issued rubbish bins in Sydney have been fitted with small radio frequency tags, which allow for data collection. Each bin will transmit a unique identification code to the garbage truck which weighs and empties it each week, allowing officials to identify how much rubbish is produced at each address.
----
In fact, I remember reading that in U.K., they will allocate a garbage bag per house, or something to that effect. For any additional trash bags, there will be a charge levied on the family, to teach them a lesson to not create so much trash.
Can you imagine the situation – people will probably get up in the wee hours of the morning and dump their trash bags into the next door neighbour’s bin? Or, people driving off in their cars to the next community and dumping their trash there.

Amusing thought for today:

The trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed. C. S. Lewis

Worth-pondering over thought for today:

Anything you could ever want or be you already have and are.David Russell, I Heart Huckabee's

Charming thought for today:

All charming people have something to conceal, usually their total dependence on the appreciation of others.Cyril Connolly, Enemies of Promise (1938)

Punny Joke for today:

She knew that the word "marriage" had a nice ring to it. Also that she would get a new name and a dress. So she married the TV repair man, and the reception was excellent. It was a very emotional wedding, even the cake was in tiers.

Pun of the day:

She wanted to be seen In the best places so he bought her a low-cut evening gown.

Okies. That’s enough for today. Take care and be good.

Junk is irritating. And messy.
But after all these years in messy BBY I have ceased to notice. Until it rains. :)

Why do we throw junk around? No clue.
