Happy New Year

Here’s wishing everyone a Happy 2008. I hope this year ended with your expectations being matched and the next year surpasses the expectations you have from 2008.

For starters,

Wouldn’t you like to be in their shoes?

Bengali bombshells Koena Mitra and Tanushree Dutta are being paid Rs 55 lakh each for a New Year Eve dance show at a hotel. Rakhi Sawant will rock a Juhu hotel for a similar purse. And Bipasha Bapu will be paid between Rs 85 to 90 lakh for 30 hip-shaking minutes at a five-star hotel. Other swingers like Malaika Arora Khan and Rimi Sen are in demand. Priyanka Chopra is in Phuket to shoot an advert.

And, what are the men doing? Why, blowing it up, of course. The moolah, I mean.

At the risk of asking an oft-repeated question for this time of the year, let me ask:
What are your New Year Resolutions? Just for reference, these are the :
TOP 10 PLEDGES PEOPLE MAKE
Lose weight/Become fit
Quit smoking
Quit/reduce drinking
Go on a holiday
Spend time with family & friends
Get out of debt
Be organised
Wake up and go to bed early
Control anger
Stay positive/enjoy life
(If you didn't make even one of these resolutions, I'll be astonished)
Let me add a few I plan to achieve:
-Be more regular at blogging.
- Write more for mags/papers

Hi Amit,

Good to see one old time blogger still very regular. I guess you can easily apply for Limca Book Of Records now :)

My writing has been irregular (after yet another shift of residence), but sometimes do try to do so - one post, which my interest you, on the recap of music scene is up now :)

  First Domestic Flying Experience: Today, I am somehow reminded of my first flight within India, and, then, the first flight outside India, both in the nineties.. both were memorable ones. Inventions and Discoveries

I'm really curious. Who invented the 'Va'. Or the 'Sha'. Or the 'Wi'. Or some such words. No, they're not some illnesses or prefixes. These are the words we invent when talking to people. I see the usage the max, specially in Baroda. Like: 1. Chai-Vaai peeni hai?(Want to have some Chai-Vaai?) 2. Naashta-Vaashta kar liya?(Did you have Naashta-Vaashta?) 3. Chutney-Vutney hai kya?( Is there any chutney-vutney?) 4. Lift-Wift nahin hai kya building mein?(Isn't there a Life-Wift in the building?) 5. Bombay-Wombay/ Dubai-Shubai kab jaa rahe ho ab?(When are you going to ....?) 6. Paise-Vaise milenge time pe ya nahin?(Will you get Paise-Vaise on time or not?) There are so many others I come across during the day, like, say speaker-veeker, phone-vone, kapde-vapde, dukaan-vukaan, that I have these rhyming words coming out of my ears, and, Arghhh!! Thought for the day: Sometimes I think I understand everything,then I regain consciousness. -------- Television news is no longer what it used to be. Isn't it a fact? Earlier, the only news we could look forward to was what politicians did during the day. Now, we have everything in the news,in fact,sometimes,I find news channels more entertaining than the entertainment channels. Take,for example, NDTV-they give live temperatures from around the world, along with a video of the place too,right from Holland to London to Jaipur....that's much more exciting than a guy pointing at a map and showing clouds or the sun,na? Or, take the Bollywood gossip on another news channel,which had as it's highlight, the fact that Mallika Sherawat is busy slapping these days. No,no,not slapping as in angry slaps,but,slapping as in,part of her role in a movie called 'Ugly aur Pagli'(What a title!), where she has to keep slapping Ranvir Shenoy.
