Winds of Change

Thought for the day: Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them.

Prayer for the day: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.’
Update: 14.08:
Anyone reading Open Space, in Sunday TOI? Answer my question (12.08.07) there:'What is the origin of the phrase' dead ringer'?
------
Do you often find yourself getting caught in a routine?
Like, sometimes my routine becomes:

Get up-have tea-go for walk-come back-get ready-catch company bus/bus/drive/train-reach place of work-spend the first half of the day, working hard or hardly working, depending on what the schedule for the day is, though the second one usually does not apply to anyone in Dubai-have lunch- spend the second half of the day-end-leave place of work- catch company bus/bus/drive/train, reach home, tiredly change clothes-take shower to feel fresh-go for walk/watch TV or a movie/have dinner/sleep. And, the cycle repeats.

Hour after hour, day after day, week after week….

When I stop to think, I feel ‘Arghhhhh.. is this how life is meant to be?’ . This is because it has become a habit, something which makes you feel so secure that you don’t want to disturb it. Frankly, I hate it. So, what do I do? Think of what changes in routine would be welcome.

For example,
- A different route daily, for the walks.
- Different music-to-walk fast/jog by, on the mp3 player.
- On the crazy side, how about- take a bath one day, a shower the next, no bath the next day…..LOL. I needn’t mention clothes and accessories or the lack or even total absence of them(At home, please- don’t become flashers) to make you feel free as a bird.
- Shopping- window or otherwise- for everything from fresh fruits to innerwear to outerwear to CDs/DVDs to perfumes. (Special mention here, of someone who Re(d)ally does this regularly- I love reading her posts)
- Write a post like this, or, a totally different post, like ‘My Views on Er*tica’, or, ‘My Views on *other Taboo Topics*…keep guessing . (That’s a nice idea…*muses*)

Perhaps we can make a list of such ‘good’ ideas, for future use- add more, people.

In fact, let me begin a tag:

What five things do you wish you could do, to change your daily routine? Let them be crazy, er*tic, deadly, anything- just ‘something different’, which you haven’t dared to do so far. And, for a change, I’ll make my list after I read others’ answers. *rubs hands gleefully*.

Tagged: Mehak( And, don’t put- "post a post" as one of the things)Red, Shreya,Keshi, Austy,Kaush, Godoji,SweetSC, Lolly….and, anyone reading this who wants to take up the challenge.

A bit of Facts for the day:
- Stewardesses is the longest word typed with only the left hand.(My comment: Interesting)· The ant always falls over on its right side when intoxicated.( First, you should find a way to intoxicate an ant)· The electric chair was invented by a dentist. ( Absolutely ‘shocking’)
- Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times. (Do I hear an excuse- that’s why I don’t walk/ walk only for half an hour)
The strongest muscle in the body is………………………Noooooooooo, not that- we don’t think dirty out here….it’s the tongue.
- Women blink nearly twice as much as men!!
- Most lipstick contains fish scales. (Next time you say “I’m a veggie- Think”. J)
----
End joke:
The bar room was crowded. All of a sudden, the cute little thing on the stool began to cry. The barkeep asked, "What's the trouble, Sweetie?" She sobbed, "I'm a v*rgin, and my boyfriend won't have anything to do with me because I'm inexperienced. What should I do?"
Three men and a l*sbian were killed in the rush.----
Anxious American parents’ thoughts: (Indian parents haven’t reached that stage yet, I think. Grin)

Nothing can burst your parental bubble faster than hearing your daughter come home from a date and saying, "Some nights I don't know why I even bother to wear p*nties."
---I got an email advertising Vi*gra soft gels yesterday. Does anyone else think this is an oxymoron?
---
Till next time, keep smiling.

For now though, I'm going to share with you part of the other half of the 'prayer of the day'

For YOU, my friend, have hit the nail on the head as to what carries me through the hum~drums:

Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time,
accepting hardship as the pathway to peace
