Communication

Do you believe in non-verbal communication? I definitely do, especially to detect when people are trying to bluff along. In dealing with suppliers of various materials, this is something of paramount importance. Sit across the table with someone, they give their price, and I tell them what final price they need to give in order to take the order. If the guy’s hand goes immediately anywhere-usually it goes to cover his lips, sometimes to scratch his hair, sometimes to his ear, sometimes even, err, going down to ball-scratching, I can be sure-he’s bluffing, and then he says something, you can be sure that he’s bluffing, trying to see how far I will stretch my budget for the product. Also, his(Very rarely, her) eyes will shift away- not make eye contact, so to speak. And, you can be sure that he/she is telling nothing close to the truth, and, everything but the truth.

Similarly, watch out for the non-verbal cues at parties, at movies, at love rendezvous(es), et al. Hands folded, hands behind head, leaning forward, leaning backward, tapping feet, tapping fingers- they all indicate something. Our subconscious speaketh the truth, always.

So, tell me, what happened while you were reading this topic? Were your eyes on the computer screen, did you put a hand over your mouth, did you reach out for that glass of juice/water…??? Then, I can judge your interest in reading my posts. *smiles*

Observed an interesting phenomenon, yesterday. We had gone to Dragonmart, the biggest Chinese shopping mall out here(More about that later), where I observed two small kids, while their burqa-clad Momma’s was busy admiring the costume jewellery at a chop. The little guy, wanting attention, began making noises. And, the bigger guy(must be 3-4 yrs), looked towards Momma, and, seeing that her attention was diverted, gave him a kick in the backside. Another five minutes, same thing repeated-another kick, more wailing from the little one. Suddenly, Momma turned around, and Big Brother was all smiles, rubbing his hand on younger brother’s back, telling him not to cry, acting the ever over-protective big brother,et al.

I wondered whether he got his training from his Dad? Wasn’t it only too similar to our behaviour as adults? In front of the Boss(Work or at home.LOL) , we will be the most considerate of people, for those smaller than us. Once his back is turned- Whammo-begin the kicks, either at the smaller person, or, at the Boss himself. LOL. (This includes gossiping, bitch*ing, etc)

Thought for the day: Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, rather than risk being happy….Robert Anthony

Another thought for the day:

One of the reasons people hold on to memories so tight is because memories are the only thing that don’t change when everyone else does….Anon

Guess what- I got a lovely horoscope reading in Sunday TOI today, which I must share with you. (I said earlier, na- I luv Bejan Daruwalla): Here goes the Pisces prediction for the week:

Peace of mind and inner harmony is what you want. You now learn not to worry and detach yourself from people or thoughts that bring tension and strife. You have the confidence that you can work well and earn well. You may veer towards spiritual practices, meditation and yoga.

Will someone tell me who enjoys reading such headlines, except those who have fertile imaginations and/or baser instincts::

“They might be the fashion icons to millions, but when it comes to their home, David and Victoria Beckham prefer prefer being Full Monty. David and Posh go about the house nak*d, he said. They are now are looking forward to make another addition to their brood. “We’re working on it.”
Of course, there was a pic of the couple (Nah, not in the Full Monty.LOL), to remind people of how they look. (And, for them to imagine how they ‘are working’, I bet.hehe). Well, celebrities will be celebrities, I guess.

Boss, I stopped multitasking and read till the end.

Would like to hear any other such observations- but shifty gaze and that slimy licking your lips gesture are a complete give away, imho.

Have a good week.

about body language, I train people on this sometimes.

I hate this couple Back and Vic but can't help reading about them. She is one brainless, shapeless, faceless, lookless woman.
